Another milestone for The SA Group in the cooperation with the Danish Defence
We are excited to share yet another strong development in our cooperation with the Danish Defence.
Our design department, Scandinavian Avionics Design, has been approved under the DKMAR-21J (Military-DOA) approval, authorizing us to design and modify equipment for Danish Defence aircraft and helicopters ✈️🚁

This approval is of high strategic importance to the cooperation, enabling FMI to utilize the strong resources of Scandinavian Avionics Design while fully complying with regulatory and safety requirements.

Our CEO, Michael R. Truelsen, proudly received the approval, and we look forward to continuing our already well-established and strong relationship with the Danish Defence 👏

ASG Secures FAA Certification for A350 Electronic Flight Bag Mount
Avionics Support Group, Inc. (Miami, Florida) has successfully completed FAA certification of the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) mount incorporating our Constant Friction Slide Mount for installation on the Airbus A350 Aircraft.

The installation is approved under FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) No. ST12277AT and supported by FAA PMA Kit No. 22414135K-1.

This certification further expands installation options for A350 operators, delivering a secure, ergonomic, and fully compliant mounting solution for cockpit Electronic Flight Bag applications.

Starlink communications systems are now flying Falcon
An upgrade from the Stars!
Everyone wants the latest and fastest in satellite communications. Dassault is meeting the high demand with our hottest upgrade ever. The company has 100 Starlink systems on order and has already installed more than a dozen sets on various Falcon models.

Starlink connects crews and passengers with lightning speed and low "latency" (aka no more awkward silence). Additional approvals, including for non-EASy aircraft, are on the way.

Why STCs are becoming the backbone of modern aircraft upgrades?
How Supplemental Type Certificates are enabling faster, safer, and more cost-effective aircraft modifications worldwide.
The global aviation industry is witnessing the most significant fleet transformation cycle in more than two decades. Airlines are accelerating cabin upgrades, introducing new digital systems, and modifying aircraft for better efficiency, connectivity, and passenger experience. At the centre of this shift is a regulatory and engineering instrument that has quietly become indispensable: the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).

Once seen simply as a compliance requirement, the STC has now emerged as a strategic enabler, offering airlines, lessors, MROs and integrators a structured yet flexible path to modernise aircraft safely and economically. From large-scale cabin retrofits to connectivity installations and cockpit upgrades, STCs now form the backbone of nearly all major modification programmes.

This blog takes a strategic and analytical look at why STCs have gained such prominence, the pressures reshaping the global modification landscape, and how industry players are using STC-powered upgrades to create business value.

LATAM extends AeroSHARK use across its entire Boeing 777 fleet
  • Five additional 777-300ERs to save one percent fuel and emissions through smart drag-reduction
  • Second airline in the world to operate an entire subfleet of sharkskin-modified aircraft
LATAM Airlines Group, the first airline outside of the Lufthansa Group using AeroSHARK to save fuel and reduce emissions, has now opted to equip even more of its aircraft with the nature-inspired drag-reduction solution jointly developed by Lufthansa Technik and BASF Coatings.
The recently extended contract between the airline and the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider now encompasses the delivery of another five AeroSHARK shipsets to subsequently retrofit the remainder of LATAM’s ten-aircraft-strong Boeing 777-300ER fleet. By the end of 2025, half of LATAM’s 777-300ER fleet had already entered operation with AeroSHARK, with the final aircraft modification expected in 2027.
