Lufthansa Technik and HENSOLDT take the “black box” to an all new level
Lufthansa Technik and HENSOLDT have jointly launched a new generation of onboard recording devices for the Airbus A320 family, which offer significant improvements over previous cockpit voice and flight data recorders (CVR/FDR). With the corresponding retrofit solution, airlines are not only well equipped for much stricter future regulations regarding recording times, but they can also read out the stored data without removing the respective devices. In addition, their maintenance operations benefit from significantly increased reliability and thus significantly extended replacement intervals.

Breaking news – The EASA (EU) 2024/590 regulation mandating the replacement of halon extinguishers does not require major modification (no STC) under specific conditions.
The EASA has recently published certification memorandum CM-CS-013 Issue 01 to provide guidance on the certification of the installation of Halon-free handheld fire extinguishers on CS-23, CS-25, CS-27, and CS-29 aircraft and to support in complying with the end-date of the Ozone Regulation. Regulation (EU) 2024/590 is not airworthiness-related legislation. An infringement of Regulation (EU) 2024/590 with regard to halon fire extinguishers on aircraft beyond the envisaged end-date would not have an impact on the aircraft’s airworthiness.

The cut-off date for compliance remains the 31st of December 2025.

ECM has already developed several Minor Modifications on various aircraft types mainly for business jets and VIP configurations.

Non exhaustive list:
• Airbus CJ
• Gulfstream G500/G550, G600
• LearJet 35/36
• Global 5000/6000, 5500/6500

Solutions are also applicable to Rotorcraft.

Fokker Services Group Unveils GPS Anti-jamming and Anti-spoofing Solution for Civil Aircraft at Dubai Airshow
Amid growing global concern over GPS jamming and spoofing incidents, Fokker Services Group (FSG) is proud to introduce its innovative GPS Anti-jamming and Anti-spoofing Solution for civil aircraft at the Dubai Airshow 2025. This breakthrough technology represents a major step forward in aviation safety, offering active protection against threats that compromise GPS reliability and critical avionics systems.

Backed by over a century of engineering excellence, FSG’s solution goes beyond detection—it actively counters GPS jamming and spoofing attempts. Unlike current OEM offerings that only identify interference, FSG’s system provides full-spectrum defense, ensuring uninterrupted navigation and enhanced situational awareness for pilots.

PMV Engineering obtains a new AML-STC for non-TSO Halon-Free Fire Extinguishers installation on B777 and B787
PMV Engineering obtains the approval of a new AML-STC reference 10088387 for the retrofit of halon-free fire extinguishers aboard B777 and B787, in line with EASA Regulation (EU) 2024/590 which requires the replacement of halon portable extinguishers in cabin and crew compartments by 31 December 2025.

This AML-STC is initially developed for B777 and B787 and replaces current halon extinguishers with non-TSO Kidde (Collins) extinguishers, featuring Halotron BRX™ (2-BTP) agent compliant with the Montreal Protocol.

It permits to offer to airlines an alternative solution for extinguishers selection to improve lead time and cost.

EASA Launches Survey on the Effect of Socio-Economic Factors on Aviation Safety
As part of EASA’s mandate under Article 89 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139, the Agency is required to monitor and report on socio-economic factors that affect aviation safety. In carrying out this task, EASA invites all pilots, cabin crew, and operational control personnel (OCC/dispatchers/ flight operations officers) across Europe to take part in the EASA Art.89 Survey “Mapping of Socio-Economic Factors on Safety in Aviation”

This important survey explores how working and employment conditions may influence the safety performance and wellbeing of aviation professionals in safety-critical roles.

The survey is open until 30 November
